Year 5 History
Let’s teach! Primary provides all you need for a complete program for Year 5 History. Including full lesson plans, differentiation, digital lessons and downloadable resource sheets, this platform is designed for ease of use by every teacher, for every student.
To ensure teaching and learning needs are met, this digital tool is curriculum-aligned, with lessons written to the Australian Curriculum and mapped to both the Victorian and Western Australian Curriculums, as well as the NSW syllabus.
All lesson content is adapted from R.I.C. Publications’ range of history resources. Having been reviewed and developed by teachers, and with teacher feedback, this content is tried and trusted internationally, while incorporating new teaching and learning techniques to suit the modern classroom. See R.I.C.’s history range here.
LTP Year 5 History online teaching plans provide a study of the recent past, the present and the near future within the context of the student’s own world. Through four units—The Colonies and Colonial Life, Major Events in Colonial Australia, International Workers in Colonial Australia and Shaping the Australian Colony—students will explore how changes occur over time in relation to themselves, their own families, and the places they and others belong to; while they examine their daily life in comparison to previous generations.
Each unit in Year 5 History focuses on one or more key inquiry questions, including:
- Unit 1—How did colonial settlement change the environment?
- Unit 2—How did an Australian colony develop over time and why?
- Unit 3—What do we know about the lives of people in Australia’s colonial past and how do we know?
- Unit 4—What were the significant events and who were the significant people that shaped Australian colonies?
The Year 5 History worksheets provided are designed to help students explore these concepts in a more practical way to improve their understanding and develop their knowledge. These are able to be completed digitally, or printed and distributed, making them ideal for both classroom and remote learning.
