LTP English—Coming 2022!

Can you believe it’s nearly the end of 2021? Although it can be sad to say farewell to another year, at Let’s teach! Primary we’re excited by the sight of 2022 on the horizon—a new year means new possibilities! To share our enthusiasm for the future, today we’re announcing an LTP addition planned for release in early 2022, just in time for back to school. That’s right, English is almost ready to join the LTP line-up!

At LTP, we understand the unique position English holds among primary subjects. It forms a fundamental base through which all other subject areas can be taught, but it also sees the greatest variance in ability level between students of the same age. It can therefore be difficult to accommodate for a whole class’s needs within an individual lesson. This is why we have decided LTP will be presented differently to our HASS, Science and Health areas.

At the centre of every English unit is a text: a written piece that all lessons within the unit will relate to. These engaging texts will include another upcoming addition to LTP: the inclusion of eye-catching animations, designed to spark student interest. LTP English’s texts will explore a broad range of text types and subject matter.

Alongside its main text, every unit will contain a series of lessons divided under the National Literacy Learning Progressions’ elements: Reading and Viewing, Writing, and Speaking. At launch, LTP English will only include Reading and Viewing lessons, with Writing and Speaking lessons to be added over the course of 2022. Lessons will further be divided into specific areas, such as word knowledge and comprehension, and will come with ready-to-use teacher notes, including differentiation suggestions.

In addition to its normal units, every year will contain a selection of assessment units. These assessments will sit at different levels of learning progression, allowing you to either check a student’s developing understanding or decide if they have the capability to move to more advanced lessons.

In other words, LTP English will help you provide for your whole class, regardless of their reading level or the English strands they struggle with most. As always, all lessons will be mapped to the Australian, VELS and WA curriculums, and the NESA syllabus.

It’s been exciting to prepare LTP English so far and it will be even more so to share it soon. See you in early 2022!
